Genetic Programming 1998 Conference Schedule
July 22 - 25 (Wednesday - Saturday), 1998
University of Wisconsin - Madison, Wisconsin USA
Last Modified: July 11, 1998
In cooperation with American Association for Artificial Intelligence
(AAAI), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), IEEE Systems, Man, and
Cybernetics Society, IEEE Neural Networks Council, Society for Computer
Simulation (SCS), and ACM SIGART
The GP-98 conference will be held at the Memorial Union Building (not
"Union South") of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Memorial Union is located at 800 Langdon Street (Phone: 608-265-3000).
Conference registration, coffee breaks, box lunches, vendor tables, and
the evening session for poster papers and late-breaking papers are all in
Main Lounge of the Memorial Union. All the sessions (plenary and parallel)
and all tutorials are in the Memorial Union Building.
Each conference attendee will receive a copy of the conference proceedings
book at the conference (unless this book was shipped earlier), the late-breaking
papers book, six tutorial books, and badge (which provides admission to
conference sessions, the 3 evening receptions, and box lunches). The conference
provides box lunches on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, but not Saturday.
There are numerous places to eat in and near the Memorial Union Building.
The 25-minute minute segment for each paper is divided as follows: 15
MINUTES FOR THE PRESENTER (one of the authors) of the paper, 5 minutes for
the disuccsant's comments and questions, and 5 five minutes for general
audience questions. In the unlikely event that a speaker does not appear
in a parallel session, the session should be temporarily adjourned until
the next speaker's scheduled time (to allow people planning to hear particular
later talks to hear those talks on schedule). If a discussant does not appear,
the speaker should extend the question and answer period and/or add to his
or her presentation so that his or her paper occupies 25 minutes and so
that the next talk starts at its scheduled time.
The Symposium on Genetic Algorithms (SGA) consists of 8 sessions running
in parallel with other parallel sessions of the conference and spanning
the entire length of the conference.
"GPCPB" in the schedule refers to "Genetic Programming Conference
Proceedings Book" and "LBP" refers to the "Late Breaking
Papers" book.
The GP-98 Graduate Student Workshop
is in the Inn Wisconsin room of the Memorial Union Building on Tuesday July
21.
The GP-98 conference is operated by Genetic Programming Conferences Inc.,
a California not-for-profit corporation. Additional information is at the
GP-98 home page on the World Wide Web at
www.genetic-programming.org or via e-mail at gp@aaai.org
In 1999, there will be a joint conference combining the Eighth International
Conference on Genetic Algorithms (ICGA-99) and the Fourth Annual Genetic
Programming Conference (GP-99). The combined conference in 1999, called
the Genetic and Evolutionary
Computation Conference (GECCO), will be in lieu of ICGA-99 and GP-99.
The GECCO conference will be held on July 14 - 17 (Wednesday - Saturday),
1999 in Orlando, Florida. The paper submission deadline is Wednesday January
27, 1999. There will be a pre-conference Graduate Student Workshop on Tuesday,
July 13, 1999. Details are at
